Class Ode


The pilgrim stands still on the brow of the hill
To view from afar his goal; 
He wearily leans on his travel-worn staff,
While his eyes hold a pleasure twofold.
For they rest on the path he has traveled so long,
And dream faces float on the wind;
No pleasures or friendships the future can hold
Are sweeter than those far behind.


Like the pilgrim, we now view a wonderful land,
As holy as ever he trod.
At the mystical portals of life we now stand,
Our hope on the silver lined cloud.
Yet here we must pause; the past is so dear,
And it brings the sad word we must tell.
So now with one voice that speaks straight from the heart,
We softly will breathe our "Farewell."
